Sit down and prepare to listen to some stunning information: Nate Diaz shouldn’t be proud of the UFC.
OK, perhaps that is not very stunning. Maybe it has been the intermittent status quo for months if not years, and Diaz is as soon as once more pushing for the UFC to both give him the fight he desires or let him discover that fight for himself.
Diaz kicked off his newest public dispute with the promotion on Monday when he tweeted a public demand to be both given a fight in July or August or to launch him from his contract. Notably, he hooked up a video of Jake Paul knocking out former UFC welterweight champion Tyron Woodley, the seemingly topic of his “s*** to do.”
Diaz at the moment has one fight remaining on his contract, per ESPN, and turned down a suggestion to face rising star Khamzat Chimaev, as a substitute expressing curiosity in certainly one of Dustin Poirier, Vicente Luque and Tony Ferguson. He misplaced his most up-to-date fight to Leon Edwards by unanimous choice at UFC 263 earlier this month.
A day later, UFC president Dana White mentioned Diaz’s newest request in an interview with The Mac Life and wasn’t precisely laudatory about Diaz’s deserves as a fighter at this level in his profession. He even recommended Diaz go forward and guide the Jake Paul fight:
“You don’t have to be a rocket scientist to look at it and see lots of game-playing and whatever. Contractually, we got to get him a fight, we’ll get him a fight.
“I like Nate. Let’s be trustworthy, Nate has received one fight within the final 5 – 6 years. When these guys get into these positions, you’ve got received guys which have been with us for a very long time, that we respect, that care about. You’ve received the [Donald] Cerrones and Anthony Pettis earlier than he left and you have got Nate Diaz and Nick Diaz continues to be below contract.
“You want to be fair and do the right thing, whatever. Nate Diaz isn’t going to come in and fight Kamaru Usman. We’re trying to do the best we can, trying not to s*** on anybody and disrespect anybody, but it’s not like we’re talking about Kamaru Usman here. We’re talking about Nate Diaz. Nate has won one fight in five years. We’re trying to figure this out thing thing out with him. He probably should go on and fight Jake Paul. That’s a fight that makes sense.”
White is appropriate that Diaz has received one fight — Anthony Pettis at UFC 241 in 2019 — since his career-making win over Conor McGregor in 2016.
Diaz was apparently listening to White, as he tweeted a request that UFC ship a launch hours later. He then included two emojis: a blond man that will or could not resemble Paul and a boxing glove.
It could also be price declaring that Paul recently announced his next fight will take place on Aug. 6, however with no opponent confirmed. There has been loads of hypothesis about who will step into the ring with Paul, and Diaz, as an getting older MMA fighter, would match the influencer’s current tendencies.
Paul even tweeted his personal assertion to White, saying he would joyful to face Diaz within the Octagon and would even fight at no cost, so long as White will increase fighter pay and pay for his or her healthcare (White is not going to do that).
There are clearly loads of transferring components to this. Every aspect appears to agree Diaz desires and may get a fight, be it in opposition to Paul or inside the UFC’s confines, however it’s a bit extra difficult than that.
