And while our stomachs probably can’t tell the difference, here’s the breakdown we settled on: a cobbler is a baked fruit mixture with a biscuit-like top crust, while a crisp or crumble is a baked fruit mixture with a toasted cornmeal or oats-based topping. All three are best served with a big scoop of vanilla ice cream.
