Aug 8 (Reuters) – Ukrainian forces once more shelled the Antonivskyi bridge within the Russian-controlled metropolis of Kherson, damaging building gear and delaying its reopening, Interfax information company quoted a neighborhood Russian-appointed official as saying on Monday.
The bridge is one of solely two crossing factors for Russian forces to territory they’ve occupied on the western financial institution of the Dnipro river in southern Ukraine in what Moscow calls a “special military operation” within the nation.
It has been a key goal for Ukrainian forces in latest weeks, with Kyiv utilizing high-precision U.S.-supplied rockets to attempt to destroy it in potential preparation for a counter-offensive to retake Russian-controlled areas of the south.
Kirill Stremousov, the Russian-appointed deputy head of Kherson’s metropolis administration, instructed Interfax there had been no “critical damage” from the most recent shelling. He didn’t say how lengthy this might delay its deliberate reopening.
